covid19-foaming-test

What is the foaming test?

It is a special urinary test performed by foaming of urine and is defined as the “foaming test”.

It is used in the pre-diagnosis and clinical follow-up of the diseases that progress with the excretion of substances that should not normally be in the urine, especially COVID-19.

How Does The Foaming Test Work?

  • Coronavirus rapidly reproduces as soon as it enters the body. Some metabolic and chemical changes occur in the body while clinical symptoms, lung findings and PCR test positivity have not yet occurred.
  • The virus is excreted from the body through urination during this time. As the virus load increases, both the virus and some other substances are heavily excreted from the body in urine due to metabolic changes.
  • The specially formulated reactant (msk) of the test reacts with urine targeting the surface of the virus creating a foam within the test tube.
  • The rate of foaming changes in direct proportion to the virus load in the body. Less foam occurs with a lower virus load and more foam occurs with a higher virus load.
  • As a result of the data obtained from the laboratory studies conducted with more than 500 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and more than 1000 healthy individuals, the amount of foam was color-scaled on the test tube.

In this graph you can see the course of the Covid-19 and the detection windows for the different covid test out there.

A major advantage of the Covid-19 foam test is an early detection of the covid infection of different stages.

Below we will outline the different stages, how you should read the test results and what action needs to be taken according to the rest results.

green

GREEN ZONE

  • Good clinical picture, no virus in urine
  • Individual is healthy.

If the test result is in the Green Zone, then the individual can protect themselves in the future knowing that he/she is not infected.

yellow

YELLOW ZONE

  • Good clinical picture, a small amount of virus in urine (and/or protein structures).
  • individual requiring follow-up.

If the test result is in the Yellow Zone, the individual must follow his/her clinical status due to the possibility of infection.

The individual should repeat the urinary test on consecutive days and must consult to a health institution if the amount of foam increases, but he/she only follow his/her clinical status if the amount decreases.

orange

ORANGE ZONE

  • Moderate clinical picture, increased virus load in urine (and/or protein structures).
  • Individual is ill.

If the tests result is in the Orange Zone, the individual must rapidly consult the nearest health institution under the quarantine rules.

red

RED ZONE

  • Severe clinical picture and intense virus load in urine (and/or protein structures)
  • Individual is severely ill.

The test result being in the Red Zone is a situation that can only occur in severe conditions. Red Zone patients consist of the patient group who requires serious monitoring and is hospitalized in intensive care.

What is the foaming test?

It is a special urinary test performed by foaming of urine and is defined as the “foaming test,”

It is used in the pre-diagnosis and clinical follow-up of the diseases that results with the excretion of substances that should not normally be in the urine, especially COVID-19.

Is the foaming test an approved test?

Yes, the Covid-19 Urine Foamin test is approved test kit.

The Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health is the only approving authority about COVID-19 tests in Turkey. The Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health has authorized the General Directorate of Public Health that operates in affiliation with the ministry, in the approval stage of COVID-19 diagnosis and screening tests.

The General Directorate of Public Health Central Laboratory is accredited at international levels, has high-reliability values, and it makes the final decision after examining the tests of the firms that have applied to them under strict guideline procedures.

The application of the Foaming Test has completed these processes successfully and obtained necessary legal permissions.

We are also in the phase with other countries legal government bodies to have test our Covid-19 Urine Foaming test recognised and approved.

We will advise and keep the latest developments on our website as soon as we have the legal releases that allow us to publish these results.

How does the foaming test work?

Coronavirus rapidly reproduces as soon as it enters the body. Some metabolic and chemical changes occur in the body while clinical symptoms, lung findings and PCR test positivity have not yet occurred.

The virus is escreted from the body through urination during this time. As the virus load increases, both the virus and some other substances are escreted from the body in urine due to metabolic changes.

The Covid-19 Urine Foaming Test reacts with the substances on the surface of the virus and urine and these excreted substances cause of foaming reaction to the reactant formula (MSK) in the test tube sample.

The rate of foaming changes in direct proportion to the virus load in the body. Less foam occurs with a lower virus load and more foam occurs with a higher virus load.

As a result the data obtained from the laboratory studies conducted with more than 500 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and more than 1000 healthy individuals, the amount of foam was colour-scaled on the test tube.

What does the foaming test do?
  1. It provides early diagnosis of the patients in the incubation period who have some clinical findings, but it is not clear whether they are COVID-19 positive.
  2. It provides a clinical and prognosis follow-up of patients diagnosed with COVID-19. It helps in the daily clinical follow-up of patients who get worse when their prognosis is good or patients who are getting better when their prognosis is bad.
  3. It prevents unnecessary PCR tests, CT scans and hospitalization of individuals with similar complaints to COVID-19 but not COVID-19 positive.
  4. It enables people who are COVID-19 negative but in the follow-up period, who are under quarantine, and who do not complete their treatment and in follow-up period at home to learn their clinical status practically, to share it with the physician who follows them; thus, enables them to rapidly determine the treatment process.
  5. It enables people who worry about COVID-19 and who have had to enter a questionable environment and felt discomfort about this situation to monitor  themselves and rapidly administer themselves to a health institution if necessary, according to the test results.
  6. Pre-diagnosis made by the healthcare professionals on patients facilitates their works in the final diagnosis and clinical follow-up processes.
What is the correlation between the foaming test and other diagnosis of Cofid-19?
  • The results obtained from the clinical trials that were conducted to compare the Foaming test with PCR test and Pulmonary CT scan were found to be highly corrolated with the other methods used in COVID-19 diagnosis.
  • Determining that patients with negative (-) results due to the inaccurate application of PCR were corrolated with Covid-19 clinical picture in their Foaming test results is an important finding for the reliability of the test.
  • The foaming test has an important role in finalizing the diagnosis of the patients with suspicious lung tomography and PCR negative result.
How is the foaming test used?
  1. The foaming test tube is opened from the top lid. One must be careful not to spill the reactant in the test tube in the meantime.
  2. The gloves included in the box are put on and some amount of urine is put into the urine container. 2.5 ml urine is drawn with the pipette included in the box and it is poured into the test tube up to the white marked line on the tube.
  3. The lid is sealed.
  4. The tube is shaken well for 20 seconds up and down.
  5. The test tube is slightly moved to the left and right to bring down the foam that may have accumulated at the top of the tube to the liquid surface.
  6. The tube is observed on a stable base. The test result is determined according to the equivalent of the amount of foam formed in the test tube after 15 second in the color scale.
  7. The gloves, pipette and test tube used are placed in the bag included in the box and discarted into the plastic waste area.
How should we eveluate the foaming test?

Green Zone: Good clinical picture, no virus in the urine, healthy individual.

Yellow Zone: Good clinical picture, a small amount of virus in the urine (and/or protein structures), individual requiring follow-up.

Orange Zone: Moderate clinical picture, increased virus load in the urine (and/or protein structures), ill individual.

Red Zone: Severe clinical picture and intense virus load in the urine (and/or protein structures), severely ill individual.

  1. An individual who was not diagnosed with COVID-19, but they got infected or in the incubation period.
  2. An individual diagnosed with COVID-19 and under treatment.
  3. An individual with an abnormal clinical picture in their body other than COVID-19. For cautionary purposes, individuals in the 1st and 3rd groups should quit close contact with family members and environment, wear facial mask and gloves, follow the social protection rules, repeat the test for consecutive 2-3 days and consult to a health institution if the amount of foam stayed in the yellow zone or increased to the orange zone.
How should we behave according to the foaming test?
  • If the test result is in the Green Zone, then the individual can protect themselves in the future knowing that he/she is not infected.
  • If the test result is in the Yellow Zone, the individual must follow his/her clinical status due to the possibility of infection.
  • The individual should repeat the urinary test on consecutive days and must consult to a health institution if the amount of foam increases, but he/she only follow his/her clinical status if the amount decreases.
  • If the tests result is in the Orange Zone, the individual must rapidly consult the nearest health institution under the quarantine rules.
  • The test result being in the Red Zone is a situation that can only occur in severe conditions. Red Zone patients consist of the patient group who requires serious monitoring and is hospitalized in intensive care.
In which conditions does the foaming test contribute to the early diagnosis and clinical follow-up?

Other severe virus infection conditions -Organ or systemic diseases where protein structures that should not normally be are removed in the urine -Severe allergic pictures.

What are the advantages of the foaming test?
  • It is practical and can be made in everywhere,
  • There is no need to consult a health institution to make the test,
  • The result can be obtained in 15 seconds,
  • It has a reasonable price,
  • It helps to reduce the concerns of healthy individuals about Covid-19. Thus, individuals do not have to receive unnecessary radiation, use drugs and go to risky areas in terms of COVID-19.
  • Clinical follow-up of the sick individuals can be performed easily and quickly, -It enables the determination of an abnormal situation other than Covid-19 in the individual’s body and ensures the possibility of early diagnosis and treatment.
